Most common recruiting challenges and how to overcome them

What is recruitment?

A process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating and encouraging them to apply for the jobs in the organization (Flippo).

Common recruiting challenges

1. Attracting the right candidates

Choose the best person that can find at the time. The best way to hire the right people is often from a     smaller pipeline of more qualified talent.

2. Engaging qualified candidates

Candidates with hard-to-find skills are often considering several job offers at the same time. So need      to put extra effort to persuade passive candidates to choose the company over competitors.

3. Hiring fast

Hiring teams want to hire as fast as possible since vacant positions cost money and delay operations.

4. Using data-driven recruitment

Companies can use recruitment data and metrics to  improve their recruiting process and make more       informed decisions.

5. Building a strong employer brand

A good employer brand helps to attract and engage better candidates.

6. Ensuring a good candidate experience

The way treat the candidates during the hiring process mirrors the way will treat them after hiring.          Positive candidate experiences can enhance employer brand.

7. Recruiting fairly

Many companies struggle to attract and hire diverse candidates but unconscious biases may occur.          Hiring objectively helps to hire the best person for the job without biases.

8. Creating an efficient recruiting process

Hiring teams need to communicate fast and evaluate candidates easily.

The best recruitment methods to overcome common challenges

- Build a talent pool

Talent pipelines are groups of candidates already engaged who can fill future positions

in the company.  This can help to reduce time to hire and recruiting costs.

- Look into past hiring processes for source new candidates.

Past candidates are obviously qualified, while new ones will help you build a more comprehensive and diverse candidate database.

- Engage past and passive candidates.

Let them determine how often communicate with them by sending useful content and information.

Train hiring teams

- Instruct interviewers on how to prepare for interviews by giving them a checklist.

- Educating them on if how biases work.

- Arrange mock interviews.

- Disseminate recruiting resources.

Diversify recruiting strategies

- Using social media to post about jobs or promote the company.

- Display your culture, benefits and employee stories in your careers site to encourage more applicants.

- Attending job fairs and host recruiting events.

- Using tools like people search to source candidates based on location, skills and job-related criteria.

  3. Recruiting employees is one of the big challenge which is face to the HR department. Its very difficult to choose most suitable person to the suitable position. As a banker, in my view point we cant recruit employees by doing only the interview system. This should be more practical and employers must consider about the concept of the applicant.
