Leadership Theories
According to Kurt Lewin theories, there are three main leadership styles that could lead the people or the organization (Mullins, 2016).
1. Autocratic Leadership style – This leadership style is everything based on boss decision without consulting assistants which means leader will hold all responsibilities and communicate subordinates to work (Raza, 2017). The good thing in autocratic leadership style is leader can make decision faster.
2. Democratic Leadership style – To make final decisions, the team members will be a part in decision making process (MindTools, 2017). The benefits of this leadership style is the member will be more creative and engage in the projects. This leadership style will be less effective when the quick decision is needed.
3. Laissez-faire leadership style – This leadership style allows the members to have freedom on work and share their opinion. This leadership style creates the job satisfaction but sometimes, it could damage to organization if the team members have bad time management or inefficiency in term of knowledge, skills or self-motivation (Johnson, 2017).
There are nine minor leadership styles which can adapt to each situation; strategic leadership style, transformational leadership, team leadership, cross-cultural leadership, facilitative leadership, transactional leadership, coaching leadership, charismatic leadership, and visionary leadership (Raza, 2017).
Conclusion
The differentiate of manager and leader is very difficult but the organization still need both skills in order to achieve the goals. Further there are three main leadership styles which are autocratic, democratic and laissez-faire leadership style.
